I have checked in a fix.

I also made a further change that tries to keep the cursor closer
to the center of the visible part of text input fields.  This
change does not yet work satisfactorily, so I did not push it to
the main repository yet.  You can try it out here:

If such a change is a good idea, I suppose it should be
implemented for !CONFIG_UTF_8 as well, and for BFU.
