ssl certificate upgrade process?

Hi folks,
Now that Luke has restored 2.8.9dev.16 to shellworld we are encountering 
the ssl certificate issue which began for I understand loads of people at 
the end of November.
I recall some discussion of that here.
What was the solution again?
