video/audio in lynx

Further to my original message about not being able to launch
audio/video files in lynx; I took Chime's suggestion to rename the *.mkv
files.
Unfortunately, it didn't seem to matter what extension I used and
whether it was an audio file or video file, the result was the same -
lynx proceeded to output the raw data and then stopped.

I can achieve the result I want by using w3m but would much prefer to
use lynx.

Any suggestions/assistance is appreciated.
