I'm going to chime in here and say this problem is similar to what I've
been experiencing. I had to remove all my %once blocks and just use
'inline perl' to access set_global() variables. Since <%once> blocks
are setup as closures, perhaps that has something to do with the problem?

I'm also seeing another problem: if I change a Mason component, I get
the same error when the component reloads for the first time - this
happens on each instance of the mod-perl enabled Apache process. Once
the component has reloaded, it's fine.

Very strange.

Cheers!
