Oh, Apache always does this for me, _except_ when Mason has a dhandler there. Pretty weird, actually; I also wouldn't think that Mason would even get to handle the request. mod_dir is compiled into my Apache server, and of course it will serve index.html if you go to dirname/ and it has an index.html. Weird. But don't take my word for it; try it for yourself!
