I'm about to flip flop. Personally I think Jon's point about not allowing arbitrary text in the tag, if it carries any weight at all, should mean that no text should be allowed in the closing tag period, regardless of whether it matches or not. Some tags being allowed to have text there and others not just seems, well, a bit random. Obviously I'm going to continue to use my own subclass, so it's irrelevant to me in practical terms, but I just don't think the proposed solution solves the itch I (and others had) and if anything just makes matters more confusing. That is, after having agitated for it, I think it's a bad idea (unless it were implemented as the purely arbitrary version - but as I said, I totally understand and appreciate why that's not going to happen).
