I've just checked in a huge number of changes to HEAD, including the performance and other changes based on work at Amazon over the past few months. (Sorry for the monolithic commit.) Those of you running servers from HEAD, I'd be honored if you would try this out, on a development server first of course. All unit tests -- including a number of new tests -- are passing for me except 14-cgi.t (6, 7) and 19-subrequest.t (7). I don't know anything about the former. The latter is autoflush_in_parent_not_subrequest, which I believe is the test that Dave R said is currently known to fail.
