I think it's more like it got added in the stable branch and never ported 
to the trunk.

Regardless, I think the best thing to do would be to make this a separate 
library on CPAN that isn't Mason dependent.  It's 99% there anyway, and it 
could be useful outside of Mason.  I think David Wheeler had expressed 
interest in doing that a whil back, but he probably ran out of tuits. 
Recently I was thinking of doing it as it'd be useful for $DAYJOB.
