Getting into the Perl Debugger

Can anyone give me some pointers on getting into some Mason code into the
Perl debugger?

..describes what to do once you are in there, but does show how to get in
there initially?

I have some xml rpc calls which are handled by mason. These calls are in
*.mas files.

Doing:

  perl -d file.mas


...doesn't work, probably because the request is not set. How do I get into
the debugger? Thanks in advance for any response.
