As you noticed it's very close to what was planned since (at least) last 6 months. Probably you should also read first draft for 1.9 roadmap. I added very important note there. We're not going to release 1.9 stable. As soon as we decide that 1.9 beta is *beta* we should release 2.0 alpha. 1.9 is going to be only developers' release. Few issues we need to resolve before 1.8 is out. 1. Supported MySQL can be only 4.1 due to UTF issue. If someone wants to experiment with 5.0 , please do it. 2. Datagard has no new unified configuration file read&write support. 3. Apache1 module is not able to fully support new configuration file. Features which should be added ( changed ) after 1.8 is out. In no particular order and with no schedule dates or release versions. midgard-core * libgda support * midgard struct connection handler rewritten to follow OO ( its implementation should be internally changed at least two times IMO, depending on midgard-java language bindings schedule and should be initially made for 1.8 IMO ) * midgard_tree class implementation ( tree builder, paths, intree methods , etc ) * class extending in schema * gettext support * ACL and cache * style engine ( or better, generic midgard_collector as a basement for php's style engine ) * midgard_sitegroup internal class ( this probably should be included in 1.8 ) * midgard_account internal class ( this probably should be included in 1.8 ) * midgard_reflection ? midgard-apache * deleting support for root files and MMP cache feature midgard-php * style engine * midgard parser ( moving from core to extension ) * root files support ( moved from midgard-apache ) * classic API implementation ( if we want to support it in Midgard 2.0 ) * supporting only PHP5 could be recommended midgard-data * rewritten in PHP * user friendly dialogs ? * configuration files reader and writer Piotras
