Follow debian's postinst scripts to include midgard in php.ini
I think you should even copy&paste them to include midgard extension.

Do not try to make any distro related scripts for database building.
Datagard with midgard-data should be responsible for creating databases
and setting things properly.

Once we get packages stable we can keep them on m-p.org. I think so.
