Seems odd how it is a default sized screen on Konsole - but yes, I have made it bigger and now get further options to install packages:
AegirAddOn_Tools
AegirSampleSite
midcom-example
PHPmoleConnector
But its asking for a sitegroup's username and password which so far I have not had any chance of configuring at any stage as I have yet to get into any configuartion systems

The comments to check folder permissions:
Directory index forbidden by rule: /var/lib/midgard/vhosts/yourgite.dyndns.org/80/ so I have unified all permissions on anything to do with midgard to be same as apache (root/users) - that still has not sorted things.

/var/lib/midgard/vhosts/yourgite.dyndns.org/80 has a symbolic link called midcom-static so the log value:
File does not exist: > /var/lib/midgard/vhosts/yourgite.dyndns.org/80/favicon.ico  is correct because that folder contains only link to midcom-static

So not looking at midgard log it shows:
midgard-lib:21298:warning:midgard-lib: mgd_connect to midgard@localhost://midgard failed: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

Many thanks to you and David for your prompt suggestions and help - just hope I can resolve the problems as I am looking forward to evaluating midgards features.
