Mark/Kevin,

For a work around for 3.x (that's the version I am currently using), how
about using non-breaking spaces to increase the width as in statement below.
I use them for a few items in my main menu and it works well. I'm using the
menu horizontally...

,"Top Links ","show-menu=topli
nks",,"",1

Hi Mark,

I assume you mean in a horizontal main menu... unfortunately, you can't
control the width of each menu item in a horizonal menu in version 3.
The menu array's Width element (the 4th element in the array) specifies
the width of each item in the menu; there is no per-item setting.

What you want to do is, however, possible using version 5 of the menu,
now past beta testing and in release candidate 3. There is a per-item
parameter called "itemwidth" that defines the width of each menu item.
You can download version 5 at the following URL:

Good luck,

Kevin

Subject: [Milonic] independently setting menu widths

Is there any way to independently set the width of each of the main menu
items.
That is, I need some to be longer and some shorter.
I see that they set their widths dependent upon the text, but I actually
want to be able to set their widths so that overall the menu takes us a
predetermined amount of space. This is so it could fit nicely inside a
table cell.

Any help appreciated.

Regards, Mark
