Hi Steve & Rolf,

Steve is mostly correct, and that's how most people use that setting.
However, it's not really a boolean.  Any number greater than 0 indicates
that you want a separator after the menu item.  The value itself
determines the width of the separator in px (at least in horizontal
menus... haven't played with it in vertical menus).  This can be a
useful too in spacing menu items further apart in a horizontal menu, as
long as you don't really want a visible separator.  In other words, you
could make the separator bar color the same as the background color (or
make it transparent), so that a thick separator wouldn't be visible, but
would space the items further apart.  This is a nice alternative to
padding the menu text with nonbreaking spaces (which also get
highlighted on mouseover, making the menu item appear larger than
necessary;  separators don't get highlighted), or inserting "dummy" menu
items for spacers.

Well, only being new to this I believe that last number is a boolean 
setting for whether a separator bar is placed between menu elements. 
One of the comments I found is..

"Description Text", "URL", "Alternate URL", "Status", "Separator Bar"
