setMaskLevel

Hi,
Searching for info on masks and ming I came across a few references to a 
setMaskLevel function avaliable in ming:

amoungst others...
When I try and use it I get an error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: setmasklevel()
This is using ming 0.2a on windows and linux.
Since I don't seem to be able to recompile ming on my hosts I don't 
think I'll be able to get round this but does anyone know a way to set 
an object as a mask to another object?
