Mnogo 3.2.39 under Debian testing

I'm successfully running the Debian-packaged version of mnogo (3.2.37) --

but now I wish to benefit from the ability to enclose queries in quotes
found in the latest release (3.2.39).
[In fact, I *desperately* need this functionality -- the sooner the
better.]

Unfortunately, this does not exist as yet as a Debian package.

Trying to compile my own 3.2.39 version (--with-mysql) results in an error
message telling me that mysql.h cannot be found, and I need to give the
co-ordinates of my local mysql base installation.
But I installed mysql also from a debian package; thus I don't have a
'mysql.h' anywhere on my system.  (Presumably, if I were compiling mysql
also from scratch, I would.  But I'm not; and so I don't.)


Anyone know how I get round this?  Any other parameter I can add to the
  --with-mysql=?   directive to compile a 3.2.39 indexer with mysql
support?

Any help or advice gratefully received by this self-taught programming
arts graduate.
