Search.cgi doesn't work. want to use php as front end.

But the indexer is working fine. First question, any one knows that this search.cgi works fine in Fedora? Second, how can I use the php front end instead of the search.cgi? I = don't have my php extension module installed and the server now is = online and I don't want to do big change our my php configuration and = mysql configuration.
