RE: Logging package

Ah, good topic for the list: so far, we've been concerned with backward compatibility at least to Python 2.1 (in the case of Windows), and as far back as Python 1.5 (in the case of Linux, Mac OS X, and Slowaris).

Going forward, do we worry about backward compatibility?  Or do we embrace Python 2.3 whole-hog??

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... thanks for the suggestion, Robert!

Python 2.3 has a standard logging package (see

http://www.python.org/doc/2.3c1/lib/module-logging.html) which has a 
rotating file handler, among others. The code is (I believe) the same as 
that from 'A Logging System for Python' 
(http://www.red-dove.com/python_logging.html).
