Click to open in background tab

How can I set things so that when I click, WITHOUT command held down, 
new links open in background tabs?  I want this to happen with all 
links, internal to a site or not.  I would also like new bookmarks, both 
from the bookmark menu and the favorites bar, to open in background tabs.
