I've been impressed with the handwriting recognition in Windows 7. It's been a while since I've used InkWell on my Mac. My daughter uses the Chinese handwriting keyboard on my iPhone. It works pretty well. And I downloaded an iPhone math game - Write Answer: Sums - that lets you use your finger for writing the answer: http://www.maximile.net/ None of those require the user to train the software to recognize the handwriting. But they may be CPU intensive. I also found a pen (Pogo Stylus) that works with the iPhone: http://tenonedesign.com/stylus.php But this is moving off-topic for OmniWeb. I'd much rather OmniGroup put effort into getting OmniGraffle on iPhone and iPad. I haven't seen a diagramming tool on any platform that I like as well. I'd pay for that.
