What about the progress bar to right of the adress bar? Does it state something like "Document: 0 B" or "Elements: 0/0" or something? Since there is some weird bug in Opera with some pages. E.g. I can't open the site www.doxygen.org with this machine. If I try to open it I get a white screen and the progress bar states one of the things above. If I wait a few minutes (maybe 2-5 minutes or something) I get the error that Opera can't reach the server. My other machine (same Opera build and same OS like this machine) can open it with Opera without problems and i can open it with IE on this machine, too. And I can reach the site if I connect to the VPN of my university. Maybe it's the same bug for you with that website. But unfortunately the site works for me. =/ But other people complained about www.netbsd.org not working for them which works for me so maybe it's still that bug.
