Mail filters cannot be imported. They are available only when you upgrade  
an existing instance of Opera (rather than installing a new instance and  
importing mail from the old instance). The reasons for this are technical  
and detailed, and I'm not sure I've got the details right (it's been a few  
years since the last time I had to struggle through the details for  
myself).

The old mail index files know that filter XYZ includes message numbers 45,  
97, 221, 904, and 3349 -- the problem is that those same messages don't  
have (and it is practically impossible for them to have) the same message  
numbers after being imported into the new instance. The old Opera instance  
will always know which messages belong to that filter, but now your new  
messages are not being stored there.

The best way forward (if you still have the old Opera version intact) may  
be to uninstall the new version of Opera, which will leave behind the  
messages you've collected in the new instance. Then you can import the new  
messages (that were left behind after the uninstall) into your old Opera  
version. Finally, install the new version of Opera again, making sure that  
it installs into the same directory as the old version (using the Classic  
version of the Opera installer makes this much easier); this will keep  
your old message store *with its index files* intact and just add the new  
messages to them. HOWEVER, if you've imported all the messages from your  
old Opera into the new one and then try this you'll end up with duplicate  
copies of all your old messages -- in that case you might try to delete  
all the old messages you imported into the new Opera before uninstalling  
the new version (and remember to empty the trash folder before  
uninstalling), or install and learn to use a tool to de-dupe your mail  
store like this one: <http://www.kmkorn.de/sw/mbx/en/mbxmerge.htm> (note  
that this tool was written to handle Opera mail files from several  
versions back, I'd look real carefully at what it does before attempting  
to use on current Opera mail files). In any case it is likely to be a  
messy business if you really must have the filters from your old Opera  
instance.
