There shouldn`t be a problem. However I`m uncertain about mail/rss.
A backup would be a good idea. The opera:about page should tell you the  
most important locations that need to be backed up. Also this information  
is helpful because some cases not all files are recognized after the  
update. The opera:about page can tell you the new location, sou you can do  
the manual copy.
Also if you have installed 9.62 in a single user mode, there is a high  
probability that the installer resets it. In this case  
operaprefs_default.ini needs to be edited to disable multi user mode  
again. If the paths on the opera:about page contains "User" or "Document  
and Settings" then you have installed it in multi user mode.
After the upgrade some files will be renamed, but their content should  
remain compatible. One of them is the opera6.ini which will be called  
operaprefs.ini

Also if you have bookmarks and other customization, you can use Opera link  
which can help to transfer settings over.
