As Finnigann mentions, everything worked fine in 9.xx and 10.00/02, it's the 10.5x versions that have been causing problems. I use Foxit Reader and it worked before 10.50, didn't work after that, even uninstalling Foxit and installing a newer version to see if it was Foxit causing it to crash. I won't try Adobe as I've never liked its attempts to take over everything (ie. all the hidden update programs set to run at start-up). If it worked before 10.5x then it's a problem with Opera's handling of pdf files. I now just changed it to always open in the external program, but it still doesn't fix the underlying problem.
