I've been having this problem with certain emails as well, although sometimes the email is just blank with no warning message.  It's been going on for quite some time now - I think since version 10 was introduced.

I'm not sure if it'll be helpful for you, but I've found that with the "blank" emails I can read the contents.  Simply reply to the email, and the contents of the email appear in the quoted content.  In my case, I'm fairly certain that the emails are HTML, but in the "reply" they become plain text only.  If your emails are very heavy on the HTML then you may just end up with a jumble of code.

It'd be nice if Opera would fix this, among other things...
