Well, I no longer work at Opera support (used to, before they started calling it
"Premium"), but have you tried inspecting the cookies set by this site before
and after a restart? If you go through the log in and check the box to remember
details, then go to your cookie manager (Preferences > Advanced > Cookies >
Cookie manager) and note down the names of the cookies related to the site
(perhaps take a screenshot or something if it's a lot of stuff to write down).

Then restart Opera, don't go to the site but go directly to the cookie manager
and try to figure out what cookies Opera forgot. Perhaps compare with a
different browser on your system if it has a cookie manager? Usually, a server
sets one or more cookies that are meant to be forgotten when the browser is
closed (aka "session cookies") and one or more cookies that should be remembered
across sessions. Seems Opera deletes too many on restart, or simply doesn't keep
them in the first place - if we figure out which ones, we're one step closer to
understanding why.

(Debugging cookie problems on HTTPS connections isn't always a piece of cake
though. Much of the point of HTTPS is after all to make it impossible to see
what's going over the wire.. Best of luck :) )
