How to (really) disable mouse gestures (or horizontal scrolling)?

Dear all How do I (really) disable mouse gestures? I did uncheck the relevant option in Advanced > Shortcuts, but I still get unwarranted mouse-triggered behaviour. On my laptop, the touchpad has vertical and horizontal scrolling enabled. The vertical functions as expected. The horizontal, however, will always scroll the history: horizontal scrolling to the left will access the oldest pages in history, while to the right the newest ones. The behaviour is easily, unintentionally triggered by the sensitive touchpad, hence it can quickly become annoying.
