"paste & go in new tab"?

I posted this on opera-users, with no luck. Trying my luck here:

Dear developers
 Shouldn't "paste & go" honour the "reuse current tab" option? Paste &
 go is very helpful as a concept, but becomes useless when a simple
 "ctrl v" would do: after copying a link from a given web page I still
 need to open a new tab (either "ctrl t" or by mouse) and only then use
 either "ctrl v" or "ctrl shift v"; otherwise, the link is pasted and
 accessed in the original tab, which in my specific case is rarely the
 intention.

 Alternatively, how do I configure a key binding to perform "paste & go
 in new tab"?
