Nah, I use the Ubuntu "network-manager", which does a pretty good job of keeping the integrity of /etc/resolv.conf . But, and I hate to use this refrain, why doesn't FF suffer from this issue? They use the exact same libresolv : ---- $ ps -ef | fgrep firefox kenny 10846 1 0 08:48 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.7/firefox kenny 10851 10846 0 08:48 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.7/run-mozilla.sh /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.7/fir kenny 10855 10851 0 08:48 ? 00:00:02 /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.7/firefox-bin kenny 11058 21633 0 09:03 pts/2 00:00:00 fgrep firefox $ sudo lsof -np 10855 | fgrep resolv firefox-b 10855 kenny mem REG 8,18 93000 916237 /lib/libresolv-2.11.1.so $ ps -ef | fgrep opera kenny 5401 1 14 Jul21 ? 06:24:23 /usr/lib/opera/opera -crashlog 20933 -crashaction continue kenny 5952 5401 0 Jul21 ? 00:00:00 /usr/lib/opera//operaplugincleaner 5401 kenny 7684 5401 16 Jul22 ? 03:47:50 /usr/lib/opera//operapluginwrapper-native 45 48 /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins kenny 11090 21633 0 09:03 pts/2 00:00:00 fgrep opera $ sudo lsof -np 5401 | fgrep resolv opera 5401 kenny mem REG 8,18 93000 916237 /lib/libresolv-2.11.1.so $ ---- -Kenny -- Kenneth R.
