file -> open -> localhost(CIFS)BLAH.html opens blank

I can open a local filesystem's HTML file same as if loading it via HTTP, but 
the same file on a CIFS mount, which the Opera file picker does find and 
claim is loaded, and Opera does show a URL for, displays as an empty page. 
:-( URLbar shows file://localhost/BLAH/dpi-screen-window.html. Permissions 
are 0664. It loads as expected if from a copy on a local filesystem.

http://fm.no-ip.com/Auth/dpi-screen-window.html is the immediate page in 
question, but the latest original working copy instead of the published version.

Any ideas what is going on here?

Unrelated, but no less annoying, I can select the URLbar's content in an 
attempt to copy, but the copy menu is grayed out when I try. :-(

I'm using an rpm from public repos on openSUSE 11.2/KDE3, Opera 11.01.
