I believe the "Pass web address directly to application" check box
belongs to the "Open with other application" radio box.  Thus it only
applies to that particular setting.  But I guess the layout is a bit
subtle on that point.

So what you are choosing is "Open with other application".  And that
"obviously" implies that you have no longer chosen "Show download
dialog".

The combination you want ("show download dialog, using this particular
application as default application and pass web address directly to it")
sounds like a useful choice, but I don't think we support that.  It may
also be hard to make the UI understandable :)

Good question.  I don't know the answer to this, but I would hazard a
guess that the web forums are the main venue for such discussions.
