Sadly I'm moving in a similar direction after being an outspoken
advocate of Opera since my college days, when it was ad-supported.
Apologies for the rant, but...

My primarily reason is the hilariously bad Flash plugin painting under
64-bit, which I remember reporting but can't find the DSK- number for.
For an example of the Flash plugin being painted entirely outside the
Opera window, across two different monitors, see
   http://kyhm.com/tmp/wtf-opera.jpg

Other bugs I've reported have been half-fixed (DSK-298078), have
regressed/returned (DSK-314446), or are new (DSK-378697: as of 12.10,
zooming in with a keyboard shortcut while at the top of some "endless"
pages jumps to the bottom of the page and loads the next chunk). These
last two suggest to me that Opera's codebase is reaching the limits of
stability and QA coverage.

I'd love to be proven wrong on this, but my read is that Opera's not
improved overall since v10, and is losing ground in places. When I have
the time I'm going to try out a Chromium-based browser, probably Iron,
and scope the effort to implement the features I like in Opera which
aren't already there.

There's a proof-of-concept tool out there called unwand; it needed some
finishing to compile on my distro of choice, but it works. AFAIK, it
does not work when you're using Opera Link, since the local password
storage is encrypted, but then you should be able to get your passwords
out of the Link server.
