Opera Software continued its Linux Bonanza Week with a public release
of Opera 6.02 for Linux. The new version includes important fixes
to the document and user interface, with some emphasis on the
display of Asian characters, making this an important upgrade for
Linux users all over the world.
Opera 6 opened up Asian markets to Opera, because of its added
ability to display non- Western characters, and the Linux version
has proved to be especially popular in this region.

*Linux Pioneer MandrakeSoft to Distribute Opera

Today, Opera Software ASA announced that Opera's Linux versions
will be distributed with Linux-Mandrake, made by MandrakeSoft.
Opera's Linux versions have already been downloaded and installed
over one million times by users all around the world.
"As an alternative desktop operating system, Linux suffered for a
long time from lacking a state-of-the-art Web browser,"
says Dean Kakridas, VP desktop products. "By focusing on providing
the very latest in browser technology to Linux users, Opera has
moved in and filled the void needed to make Linux a technologically
advanced and user-friendly operating system. Opera's continuous
insistence on a technology-centered strategy is proving successful
both among users and Linux distributors."
Opera is available in Linux-Mandrake 8.2.

*SuSE to Distribute Opera

On Tuesday, Opera Software ASA announced that SuSE will distribute
the free ad-sponsored version of the popular Opera for Linux Web browser in their Linux distribution.
The deal is Opera's first major Linux distribution agreement.
Opera's Linux version has proved immensely popular, with over one
million copies downloaded and installed by users from all around the world.
"Being included in Linux distributions opens new doors for Opera,"
says Dean Kakridas, VP desktop products, Opera Software ASA,
"Distribution from the operating system itself will put our browser
readily available for everyone, exposing thousands of users to a
unique Internet experience."
Opera is available in SuSE Linux 8.0.
