I have noticed that there are a large number of carts that get abandoned at various times in the purchase process. I was surprised that no one had developed a contribution that connected those that had been abandoned with people that have logged in (completed sign up) and would allow a followup e-mail to be sent to those people to find out if they are still interested in making that purchase, or if they wish to have the cart emptied.

The downside is that someone may feel that it's intrusive to get such an e-mail. The upside is that people would feel that you have great customer service and that you are interested in them and their experience.

Remember, that this would only go after people that took the time to complete registration. If you look at it that way, these are people that would most likely fit into that second category (they took the time to register, and you are taking the time to care about them).

So, my question is, is anyone developing this feature? If not, I'll look into doing it as it seems an obvious extension to the existing system, and even if it help recapture as little as 5%, that would be a great return on the investment. But, I don't want to start this if someone else is already doing it. :-)
