categories description prob. (SQL?)

Just installed the categories description mod ([url]http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1373[/url])

but the admin page doesn't insert the categories description text into the DB. Also, and this is slightly worrying, even if I try to insert text manually through phpmyadmin, it isn't added. the field just stays at null. I guess this means there's a structure issue?

here's what the structure of that table looks like in PMA:
