I'm registered with CVS Commits and use ExamDiff Pro and Tortise CVS to make the changes.  If your site isn't modified (don't know too many like this) then you can just replace the old file versions with the old.  Though, since most site will have modifications in one way or another, I make sure I comment the modifications as I'm making them and use Tortise CVS to get the updates and transfer both files to ExamDiff Pro to make the required changes (ExamDiff Pro integrates well with Tortise CVS)

Golden rule is to stay on top of the CVS updates, otherwise you'll have 50 changes to make and you may as well start back from the start unless you want to spend the time to go through them all.  It's no problem if you check your e-mail and make the changes every day or two, but you wouldn't want to fall too far behind.
