I just installed the "Admin Authentication by .htaccess" contribution written by Kristian Nielsen. It's very nice, actually, and easily integrates...though I would like to see the passwords stored in the database, rather than in separate files.

The tool adds a much needed authentication function for administrative access, complete with an additional tool interface for the administrative screen.
