If the OSC team does read any of this stuff, please take the future of OSC into deep thought. Ask yourself if the road that you are going to go down is the right road and is there a chance that down that road you will need to backup turn around and go another way. If so, maybe talking another road will need to be done now.
It's been said multiple times that we are first concentrating on the knitty-picky stuff to make sure the core logic works as expected. That is why we are currently not working on "the fun stuff" to make osCommerce "greater", but to make it "stable" so the foundation is laid for the future.

Other solutions just keep building and as long as its standing, declare it as stable. This attitude is fine for certain areas, and not fine for other areas such as doing business with customers, where the customers need to build up trust and security on the store.

Because we are concentrating on stabilizing the core logic (what is more important, that the order totals are correct or to have a fancy template engine?) does not mean others can concentrate on the "fun stuff". This is infact happening, and look forward to adding the "fun stuff" to the project when all sides are ready.
