Ever thought about using fusebox?

At the moment, the catalogue (I haven't look at the admin yet) is all based on per page per functionality. This is very inefficient in term of code size and complexity. I had a bit of experience with fusebox methodology before and wondering if anyone in the main dev team has ever thought of moving slower toward that path future ease of extensibility (plug and play) and for ease of create theme?
