This message was sent from: Development http://forums.oscommerce.com/viewtopic.php?p=204815#204815 ---------------------------------------------------------------- Well, hopefully whatever you come up with will be good. Hopefully it will be usable by non PHP programmers as well. I've already introduced my company to OSCommerce only to be rejected because of the lack of a templating system. The first thing our graphics designers asked to have demoed to them was how they could change the look and feel of the site. When I started showing them the mixed PHP code and deisgn elements you'd have thought someone had stabbed them in the heart. As an aside we also use Smarty in some other projects and those same designers can edit templates in Dreamweaver with Smarty tags embedded in them and make them work successfully. Without I might add the help of any "programmers" in doing so. I've not looked at the proposed "template structure" yet, but if non programmer 'graphics design' folks can't easily use it, the effort won't be of as much value as it could be. My vote probably doesn't count, but I really like Smarty and am amazed at how fast and flexible it can be.
