My personal experience with paypal is long and harrowing.

I, at one point had $200 in my paypal account, and for some reason their system wouldn't let me withdraw it.

I sent an email to their support department about it only to recieve an automated reply directing me to the FAQ (which didn't help either).

After searching for ages I found a way to contact their support staff via their site, only to recieve yet another automated response.. this time telling me to see the FAQ and reply to that message if I needed further assistance.

I replied to it, explaining my situation for the 3rd time, and (guess what?) I got another automated response telling me the exact same thing as the last one. So I decided to wait a couple of weeks to see if any of these emails were actually being read and someone would get back to me.

No one got back to me so after a lot of digging I got their mailing address and sent them an international recorded delivery letter, again explaining my situation.

About a month later I got a letter back telling me that i couldn't withdraw my money because there wasn't enough in my account to withdraw (I still had $200 in that account).

At this point I went to see my solicitor. He sent them a letter telling them that they were obligated to release my money to me within 28 days of the date on the letter. They sent him a letter back that was *exactly* the same as the one they sent me (like a pre-printed - autoresponse).

I had to actually take them to court to get my money (and some interest).

All in all this entire process took about a year.

So, in conclusion, I will never touch paypal again and advise anyone I meet (who is considering using paypal) against it.
