Address issue

I have posted this in the support section with no answers, so I post this here as the question is not really support related.
Hope someone can help me.

But if it´s possible, I would like to do a minor change to the checkout process. The change has nothing to do with modules. 
What I want to do is this. You can have x amound of extra addresses in the adressbook, right. 
And you can choose between these adressess in both shipping and payment. 

What if I want the customer to be able to choose address in shipping and the same address (not the default as is now) is the payment adress. 
And editing the payment address is not possible. 

Ofcource the last thing about not letting the customer change the payment address is done easy by removing the link to change address in payment. 
But how can I make the choosen address in shipping follow into payment aswell. 
Is it alot of coding? I am but a mere beginner of PHP and do not master this type of change without a small guide from one of you guys and gals.
