I'd go for XML standards, export / import. 
It will be the most flexible for all platforms (I think)

There are some contribs that export to XML (product feed etc)
you obviously could write something to do it the other way around as well.
But I think the export will be the most handy (unless you plan to add new articles with your mobile ;) )

For instance it would be handy to have an XML export on your new orders, along with whatever is not in stock.
