Editing Credit Card Payment module

First I would like to say that oscommerce is great.  

I need help editing the credit card payment module,

I am a newbie to php.

I am tyring to add a field called atx member number to the credit card payment module.

I called it 'atx_number'

I have been able to enter in the number for the field and edited the module in the admin field.

What do I do from here?

I want to write it to the mysql database.

I also need to push this number along for the checkout process, and checkout confirmation screens as well as send out this number in the email the user receives,  also I want to be able to view this number from the admin orders screen.

HELP!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!
