Customer credit field not editable by customer

First I must say I am very new to this and can only really handle php by cut and past and on occasion figure something simpe out.

I am looking for something to allow the Admin to ad a numerical value to the custmer's account that coulc show when they log in.  For example, if they buy 20 lbs of dog food, they woulg et 20 credits, is there a way for the admin to add the 20 to this field, allow them to see it, but cannot change it.

In my eyes is as simple as adding an additional field, but where I am lost is what is the code for the customer to see it... and for the admin to be able to edit it?

Maybe there is a contribution for this, but I was unable to find it.  Possible one of the additional field contributions may work, but if so, how do I lock it from the customer?
