customizing osCommerce

I work in a small company and we need to setup a webshop for a
customer, so we think about using either phpshop
(http://www.phpshop.org) or osCommerce for this.

We need support for barcodes as the unique identification for articles
(and ArticleID's which are shared between e.g. products which differ
only in color). We don't need a payment-system, we only need a order-
confirmation that is sent via e-mail. We might need to add/change
some other product-properties too.

Furthermore, and this is the hardest part: we need to synchronize the
osCommerce-DB with our customer's enterprise resource planning
database (the ERP-software needs to know when an Article has been sold
and vice versa and we need to draw the products from the
ERP-system). The problem is that the customer's ERP- system is running
on MS-SQL Server.

I have 1.5 years of experience programming php.
How much effort is this going to be? Is this realistic?
