organize images in folders

And, so, cannot use the suggestion in the forum. I have uploaded all the images in folders to the manufacturers separate folders in the catalog/images directory with ftp but when I try to ad a product it adds a new image to the catalog/images folder. Very messy if I want to delete some of the manufacturers later. (over 3000 products) Please Help, Erik
