This message was sent from: GNU General Public License http://forums.oscommerce.com/viewtopic.php?p=77417#77417 ---------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, personally, I don't care, but some of my _potential_ clients have expressed concerns over it. If it ever becomes an issue for _me_, i'll just use 2.1, and send in a donation :) Anyhow,
When osCommerce is "marked", there is nothing stopping you adding your own "marks" too.
So, I am required to let php print out your copyright notice. I understand that. However, can't I just add my own marks before and after, namely "<!--" and "-->"? I have thouroughly read through the GPL, and as I see it, HTML has no "look" on it's own. It exists as merlely a string until it is rendered by the browser. You _cannot_ prevent me from modifying any of the output except for the copyright notice, and I simply choose to output my little marks. So, you end up with the copyright notice in a comment anyway. (which is where I prefer it) :) Great product, I will be donating something in a few days (after I get paid for finishing elliesfurniture.com :))
