Permissions resetting automatically? aliens in the server?

Hi,

I get this:

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/user/public_html/negozio/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

So I chmod all the way down to

configure.php:  444
includes/ folder: 555

and when I check permissions, they're back to 644 and 755!  :o 

Little green men are taking over my server? Or are they spies from M****Soft?
