I think we all want to do this :)  But the fact remains one of the reasons services like PayPal exists is because there aren't any inexpensive, easy to join and easy to use merchant accounts. I don't like having people go through another step in the checkout process, but because of my credit :) and other issues, I don't qualify for a full merchant account right now.  As soon as I can, I will.  PayPal is an option and a temporary solution, at least in my case.

As such though, they know they can do pretty much whatever they want, because they are pretty much a monopoly.
